Ski conditions for Feb. 11 weekend

The base is holding, but it’s north of the Vermont/New Hampshire border, about 3-1/2 hrs drive from NYC.

Things will be best on Saturday, with mild, springlike weather to follow. Carpe ski’em.

This post is about conditions for Feb. 10, 2023, and forecast for the next few days. See jump links to Conditions and Forecast.

Conditions

‘Fast and challenging’ could be words to ski by for a day or so.

Dampness from rain across the region on Thursday left trails slick and puddled in spot. Rain continued on Friday for areas in the Tug Hill and parts of northern New York and New England. Many areas have left trails alone in order to drain and dry out Friday night. Temps below freezing overnight will make for fast conditions in the morning.

Hit up ‘State of the touring centers‘ or in the menu above for reported conditions as of today. Snow depth graphic below:

Forecast

The NOAA Climate Prediction center’s outlook for the next two weeks calls for temperatures well above normal and precipitation slightly above normal. Not so good for the snowpack

Springlike temperatures across the entire northeast will prevail for the entire weekend and through next week. Thursday could see highs well into the 60s in NYC, and in the 50s close to the Canadian border.

Chance of rain possible on Wednesday, with rain forecast to spread across most of the northeast Thursday, possibly with some changeover to snow Thursday night into Friday.
