The weather has turned distinctly for the worse- rain today across the northeast, followed by a return to below-freezing temps in the far inland reaches of upstate NY, VT, northern NH and ME. By the weekend, some lake effect snow might dust the Tug Hill plateau and the western regions of NY.
Which means the remaining snow cover will get a nice, hard icy crust. Groomers will have their work cut out for them at touring centers, and backcountry conditions will be… challenging!
