Over the last 36 hours, it seems like rain and warm temperatures hammered some of the ski areas. Mother Nature is throwing some sharp elbows at old man winter.

Wednesday. update: we’ve lost a lot of snow with all this warm weather.  There isn’t much left out there. I skied yesterday and between the time I started and the time I finished there was a noticeable difference in the amount of snow left in the field. 

Ski conditions at Viking Nordic, Londonderry VT

Notchview and Garnet Hill didn’t update their ski conditions today (always a bad sign). The amount of trail open or groomed has shrunk dramatically at Lapland Lake, Jackson XC, and Trapp Family Lodge.

And conditions may get even worse through the week. The Lake Placid Loppet, scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled:

Due to the Mt. Van Hoevenberg’s current trail conditions and expected weather forecast for Friday, the 2020 Lake Placid Loppet & Nordic Festival scheduled for Saturday, March 14, have been cancelled.
