With a refreshing snowfall on Wednesday, some places that were closed are now open, and areas with marginal conditions are now having great trails and tracks. It’s just in time for the weekend, which is going to be cold, so that snow is staying!
Today’s snowy images are from Prospect Mountain and Canterbury Farms- unlike Notchview, Canterbury didn’t have quite enough snow to open. However, as you can see, conditions at Prospect are terrific. Both Prospect Mountain and Notchview are just a few hours’ drive from NYC, within long-day-trip distance. Check the List of touring centers (also in the menu above) for contact info and website links.
You can also go to State of the touring centers (also in menu above) for a Google Map showing skiability of each area, with notes and contact info.
Snow depth screenshot below shows the state of snow cover across the northeast US, in case you’re planning to head off-trail or know of a park or center I haven’t listed.
If you want to dream (or verify their accuracy later), check out what the Farmer’s Almanac has to say for the upcoming month.
I’ll be away next week, so no updates. Time to wax those skis!
