Post-World Cup letdown? Conditions as of Mar. 25 2026

Between the highly variable precipitation of the past week and last weekend’s events in Lake Placid, I think some of the most dedicated nordics including the ones operating touring centers have lost a bit of steam this week. Updated ‘State of the touring centers‘ today, so click the link or hit up the menu item above.

Bad news for NYC area is that Lapland Lake is the closest place that’s open, with 10k groomed and trackset. Will it last? Who can tell? I thought Prospect Mountain would reopen, but so far no go.

Paul Smith’s VIC in the Adirondacks, Great Glen and Waterville Valley in the Whites have skiable conditions that sound pretty decent – for today anyway. Other than that the season is running on fumes.

Warmish weather through the weekend and a brief dip into midwinter temps early next week before more typical springtime temps return. Might be some sporadic snow/rain through the latter part of the week.

Opera finale
Season’s coming to a finale, but it was a pretty good show, wasn’t it?
