Forecast

Temperatures will be trending upward till Friday, when we go back to mid-winter temps for a day. The weekend will have seasonable if slightly warmer than ideal temps for the cross-country skier.

Tuesday morning we’ll see snowfall across the region starting from the southwest. Even the NYC area might see a few flakes. By the afternoon much of the snow will start changing over to rain, then ice during the evening. Although the ice should melt quickly due to the warming temperatures this week, evening travel for Tuesdaycould be hazardous in spots. Winds should be mild overall, but expect gusts as the system moves in and then out of our region.

By Wednesday morning the precipitation will have mostly gone. The areas to experience the least rain/ice will be central and northern New York, and the northern parts of Vermont and New Hampshire. They’ll have the best chance for a white Christmas Eve.

Another system could bring more precipitation for the entire region on Friday, with episodes of snow, wintry mix, and rain lasting through the weekend. Stay tuned.
