So there’s almost no skiing left, but a few inches have kept a handful of centers going. And there’s more luck to come. This post is about conditions for March 26, 2025, and forecast for the next few days. See jump links to Conditions and Forecast.
[Updated 3/27]: Changed the title just so I could riff on a couple of measures in the song ‘Desperado’:
Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
Sung by no one ever to the lyrics of ‘Desperado’ by The Eagles
The season has ended, time to say ‘so long’
…
Mother Nature’s given you highs and snows,
Ain’t funny how the season goes away?
How’s the skiing in general?
Pretty desperate. Some touring centers are saying the conditions are now for ‘die-hards only’. It’s definitely rock-skis season. But there is a fraction of an in ch more snow cover now than last week.
Hit up ‘State of the touring centers‘ or in the menu above for reported conditions as of today. If you do, you’ll see a bunch of ‘bullet-holes’ marking ski areas that have gone offseason. Snow depth graphic below:

Forecast
Two systems are building up for this weekend, caused by a warm front that will slide over the southern half of the northeast region, and two successive fronts of colder airpassing across the northern half.
First a ‘complex’ system that is sure to bring precipitation including snow up north. Possible accumulations of a few inches starting Friday evening. The two fronts will create a very sharp north-south temperature gradient on Saturday, as the far north continues to have seasonable temps for early spring, while the NYC metro might see temperatures in the high 70s!
Next, another system that can bring additional snow to the far north on Sunday. Following the weekend there are some other marginal opportunities for scattered snow showers or wintry mix, along with rain showers.
Our April. Fool’s joke arrives on Tuesday when we dip briefly back to late winter temps, before going back to more eenly seasonable temps.
