Osceola has the best base of all. Below a list of favored touring centers and conditions reported today by region. As I think Craftsbury put it, something to do if you’re not already working on the yard (or farm) for spring.
NY State and southwestern VT:
- Prospect Mountain remains closed for this weekend. They’re hoping for snow during the week.
- Lapland Lake: 8k open with some thin and bare spots. Open Wednesday – Sundays if conditions permit, so get the skiing in this weekend.
- Garnet Hill Lodge: 15k open and groomed. Good coverage, small walks from parking to snow.
- Osceola Tug Hill XC Ski Center: open for skiing with 11″ base. The other Osceola is offseason.
- Mt. van Hoevenberg: 5k open, but only 2.5k competition loop groomed. Icy and fast in the mornings.
Northern Vermont:
- Craftsbury Outdoor Center has only a small loop around the stadium that’s groomed,.
- Trapp Family Lodge trails are icy and difficult skiing low down.
- Bolton Valley Nordic Trails: groomed Friday, decent coverage with some water bars.
Along I-91 and the Connecticut river valley:
- Oak Hill Outdoor Center: Race loop groomed last night. Icy and quick in parts, and some thin cover. Old skis recommended.
- Woodstock Nordic Center: Knox meadow loop groomed this morning.
White Mountains:
- Jackson Ski Touring Foundation: 10k groomed on three different trail systems, so it’s not continuous.
- Waterville Valley Resort: 12k open and groomed.
This could be about it – maybe a few more posts before this blog hibernates till next season.
