Welcome to the 2024-25 season! Winter is peeping around the corner and toying with us for now. Large amounts of snow feel in localized areas of the Poconos and Catskills, and tantalizing amounts in elevated areas of the Green and White Mountains.
Although Craftsbury opened up their manmade loop for skiing on Nov. 23, but for snow ‘au naturel’ it’s hard to beat 2-” of snow at High Point. A few people skied at Minnewaska which got about 7″ according to a report from Shawangunk Ski Association, although the trails weren’t groomed.
Despite ample snow in spots, the ground isn’t quite cold enough to keep the snow from melting rapidly.
More snow for Thanksgiving?
A system will arrive later in the week, with a bit of freezing rain, and then snow. Possible accumulation over 2″ are possible in the Adironacks, Green, and White Mountains.

Things could get interesting in the early part of this winter.
